Oceantic’s Annual Summit will convene business and government leaders to discuss key developments for offshore wind operations and safety
Oceantic Network, the leading organization working to advance offshore wind and other ocean renewable industries and their supply chains, will host its annual OSW O&M/Health & Safety Summit beginning Thursday, January 18 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and running through Friday, January 19.
The two-day Summit, sponsored by Dominion Energy, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development, will address the most pressing operations and maintenance, and health and safety topics facing the growing U.S. offshore wind industry. Kevin Sligh, Director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, will deliver keynote remarks.
“As the offshore wind industry continues to mature, it is critical that its support systems are strong across the industry,” said Liz Burdock, founder and CEO of Oceantic Network. “We now have two projects delivering power to the grid and several more that will see steel in the water over the next several years. As development accelerates, the industry must answer key questions about safety and standardization to ensure efficient and safe operations into the future.”
The Summit will feature speakers and panel discussions on topics such as incident reporting, data and modeling strategies, and emergency response plans.
Speakers represent a range of companies and government agencies working in the areas of offshore O&M and health and safety, including HeliService USA, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the U.S. Coast Guard, and more.

Oceantic Network is Bringing New Events To the U.S. Offshore Wind Industry In 2024
After the 2024 Health & Safety Summit, the Oceantic Network, which is the leading organization working to advance offshore wind and other ocean renewable industries and their supply chains, will host several events in the first half of 2024, bringing the industry together to connect, learn, and discover new opportunities.
In February, Oceantic Network will host two new events, the Maryland Offshore Wind Forum and the Floating OSW Port & Vessel Summit, followed by the International Partnering Forum returning in April. Additionally, the Network’s Global Gateway program will host delegation trips to Spain in March and the U.K. in June.
“As the industry’s first offshore wind projects begin operation, the Network is ramping up its programming to reflect where we are as an industry, address new challenges, and open opportunities to more companies than ever before.” said Liz Burdock, founder and CEO of Oceantic Network. “To reflect our new name and mission, our 2024 events will include new programming featuring complementary ocean renewables, such as floating solar and hydrogen fuel production.”
OSW O&M/Health & Safety Summit

Thursday, January 18 – Friday, January 19
Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel
Virginia Beach, Virginia
As offshore wind and related ocean renewables continue to mature, it is critical that industry support systems are strong, resilient, and continuously adapting to new technologies. As the U.S. sees its first projects already supplying power to the grid, it will also see a lot of projects begin and complete installation activities over the next several years. What are the industry standards for operations and maintenance? Operational wind farms and hybrid wind parks also require a trained workforce that values safety – how can we ensure that safety remains a high-level priority as the industry moves forward? The OSW/O&M Health & Safety Summit will discuss the nexus of these industry support systems and the critical need for them to work together.
Maryland Offshore Wind Forum
Presented by Oceantic Network
